Carbon containing wastes recycling technology
Project developer "Ukhta State Technical University" Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education
Project area: the Republic of Komi
Sector: Medicine, healthcare, Food industry, Ecology, environmental protection
Stage of development: Project status
Legal issues: Patent
Cooperation ways: Others
Types: Technology, Equipment, Materials
Project summary:

Wastes are delivered by customized transport to the recycling area. Solid household wastes are separated into market products (polymers, wastepaper, glass scrap, and ferrous and non-ferrous scrap) and raw materials for thermal recycling and composting.

Home-produced Piroteks facility of low-temperature pyrolysis is used for thermal recycling (destruction). Low-temperature pyrolysis is a chemical process of no-oxygen carbon-containing wastes degrading at a temperature up to 550 ºC. Application of carbon-containing wastes’ pyrolysis recycling makes the pollutants emission minimal.

Solid household wastes separation results to the collection of major part of their organic fractions and further composting or vermireactor recycling. The rest wastes are exposed to low-temperature pyrolysis. Compost, stone and ceramics fine fractions will be applied as remediation components in existing and illegal solid wastes landfills.

Comparing to similar Russian facilities, this facility uses maximum energy potential of carbon-containing wastes to generate power, heating energy (steam, hot water supply) and heat-transfer agents (pyrolysis gas, generator gas, pyrolysis / boiler liquid fuel), which are utilized in the complex operation in order to improve production and services profitability. Solid household wastes with screen fraction of 100 mm and less are considered to be utilized through low-temperature pyrolysis in leak-proof melting pots.
